It’s that time of year again! WWDC is right around the corner and in this video, I’m going to give you my top 10 Wishlist for improvements in the Apple HomeKit based Smarthome.

1. Quality - HomeKit is awesome. But it needs to be more reliable.
2. location based automations need to be easier and work..
3. Home app needs to be usable to create all automations. It’s awesome that we have access to 3rd party apps to control our HomeKit Homes but it’s ridiculous that Apples native offering doesn’t have the same capabilities.
4. Ability to select Active/Primary Homehub AND disable Homehub on any iOS device that can be a Homehub. That means You HomePods
5. Give me the password to my Thread network. Seriously. Thread is supposed to be an open standard that’s interoperable between multiple vendors to create a single self-healing low power low bandwidth network for all our smarthome devices. But without that password….
6. Granular Permissions - If you live in a multi-person home and you want to share the smarthome, we NEED a way to give permissions to a subset of devices or rooms in that home to the different room mates, family members or guests.
7. Facial recognition based triggers - We’ve got facial recognition in Homekit Secure video, now we need to be able to use that information as a trigger.
8. Text to speech routines - Other smarthome do this. Yes - you can prerecord the messages, add them to your Apple Music account and then play the clip using an Airplay2 automation. But you shouldn’t have to.
9. U1 based automations “when X enters the room. “ or “when X leaves the room”
10. Clear understand of Apples plans for Matter.
11.
