I've encountered this problem several times myself and I think my experience will be useful. If you play games and your computer shuts down during a game, or if you're working with programs that put a strain on the graphics card or processor, in most cases the sudden shutdown is caused by overheating components. It's important to find out which component exactly. Generally, the components of a system unit or laptop that get the hottest are equipped with cooling fans, and these can also fail. The processor, graphics card, or power supply can become extremely hot, which can result in an emergency shutdown.
The first time I encountered this was when my power supply overheated because the fan inside it stopped spinning. Since my power supply couldn't be replaced without resoldering, and I really didn't want to do that, I decided to restore it, meaning try lubricating it. I dropped a little machine oil on the pulley where it connects to the fan, and it started working again.
The second incident happened the other day when I was editing a video in Camtasia Studio. After it was finished, I started processing it, and after a while, the computer shut down. I decided to repeat the process, but now I needed to figure out why. Since working in Camtasia Studio puts the most load on the processor and graphics card, the cause lies precisely with one of them. I recently changed the thermal paste on the processor, so the problem is most likely with the graphics card. When I launched SpeedFan to check the graphics card's temperature, I was slightly shocked to find that the card had reached 90 degrees Celsius and needed immediate attention. I had to open the system case and turn the room fan on full speed. After a few minutes, the temperature began to drop. It was 36 degrees Celsius outside that day, and the room where the computer was located was also hot. A lot of dust accumulates on the graphics card's cooler and heatsink, if any, preventing the graphics card from cooling properly, causing the computer to shut down.
