In this video, I'll tell you what to expect from the Hanoi hop-on hop-off bus tour: how much it costs, where to board, how to buy tickets, the places you'll see, and whether the trip is worth the money.

Let's get started!

You can board the bus near Hoan Kiem Lake, also known as Nghia Thuc Square.

The buses operate from 8:30 AM to 9:30 PM Monday to Thursday, and until 8:00 PM on Friday to Sunday. A full-day pass will cost you around 20 dollars if you buy it online. If you purchase it at the counter, it will be slightly cheaper, so I recommend buying from the counter. The ticket counter is right next to where you board the bus.

You can hop on and off at different stops and explore at your own pace. After visiting one spot, just catch the next bus to move on to the next destination. Buses come every 15 to 20 minutes. However, if you get on the bus after 5 PM, you won’t be able to hop on and off—it becomes a non-stop ride, and the bus will take you through all the spots in about 40 minutes.

Here are the places you'll visit:
Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square - Departure Point
St. Joseph Cathedral
Vietnam Military History Museum
Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum
One Pillar Pagoda
Tran Quoc Pagoda
Cua Bac Parish Church
Quan Thanh Temple
Imperial Citadel of Thang Long
Temple of Literature
Hoa Lo Prison Relic
Vietnamese Women's Museum
Hanoi Opera House
Hanoi Post Office

Once the trip is completed, the bus will drop you off at the departure point near Hoan Kiem Lake. Is the trip worth the money? The answer is, not really!

Let me tell you why!
We took the tour because it was our first day in Hanoi, and our flight landed in the afternoon, so we didn’t have much time to explore. We decided to quickly see the main sights. Plus, our tickets came as part of a package with our flight. Since we got on the bus after 5 PM, we didn’t hop off—it was just a 45-minute bus ride.

If you have more time and don’t want to deal with booking Grabs, taxis, or constantly checking Google Maps, this hop-on hop-off tour might be convenient for you.
