Part of my Half-Life Fact Files series: • Half-Life Fact Files
This is a demonstration of the different localizations available for Half-Life, namely the English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Chinese, and Korean languages of the game. The following characters are shown in this order: Holographic Guide, HEV Suit, Transit System Announcer, VOX, Barney, Scientist, Human Grunt, the G-Man, the Nihilanth, and the latter's exclamation of Freeman's name.
While there's nothing surprising about the game being translated, the localizations for Half-Life are unique in that the localizers took some great artistic liberties with the character interpretations, resulting in some notable voiceover deviations from Valve's standards and even diverging heavily between each language. There's also a short look here at the censorship used in the German release.

Fun Fact: The Chinese G-Man line used in Half-Life 2's presentation at E3 2003 came from this HL1 Chinese localization.
