Clipper circuit
The diode clipper means it take the input i.e. sine wave and clips or cut to its top half, bottom half or both half’s.
In the above video we are showing the construction and working of the clipper circuit in proteus wave simulator
For the construction take the below components:
AC supply (sine wave)
Resistor (10k)
Diode (simple)
Battery (5v)
DC voltmeter (checking voltage)
Now placed this component on sketch board and make the proper connection as shown in video
For the forward bias diode, you can see the output on oscilloscope we get a positive half cycle clips at its bottom (Yellow color output waveform) and AC wave (input waveform shown in blue color)
Here, the diode conducts a positive half cycle because of forward bias and in voltmeter waveform held the VBIAS -0.63 v for the diode it will held 0.7v
For the reverse bias diode, the output on oscilloscope Negative half cycle clips at its top. Waveform held the 0.69 v (for germanium diode it will held 0.3).
Both for forward and reverse bias diode, the output waveform is clips on the both side and held the bias voltage approximately +0.7v and -0.7 v.
