Beat Making Session V [SP-404A | SP-202] (Chopping Jazz Guitar Samples | Lo-Fi Sample Rates)
In this session I get low down and dirty with the sample rate on a drum break and some jazz guitar.
After chopping these samples up on the Roland SP-404A I lay down an unquantized "through composed" style chill beat - recording the whole beat from start to finish, no looped patterns. This time around I had a rough plan written down on paper of the structure of the beat and bar lengths of each section.
Because I used the Pattern Sequencer I was able to use the Equalizer on the sample to bring the bass out more after recording...I was able to Resample then Exchange each chop.
For the outro I recorded some finger snaps just using the mic on the front of the SP404A, which does a surprisingly good job.
For the intro I took one the guitar chops and mess it up pretty good with the Isolator and Vinyl Sim then reversed it.
Sample rates on the Boss SP-202:
Jazz Guitar - Lo-Fi 1 [7.81 kHZ]
Drum break - Lo-Fi 2 [3.91 kHZ]
