The Mann Whitney U-test is a statistical test for assessing differences between independent samples. It allows you to detect differences in the value of a parameter between small samples.
Also called: Mann-Whitney-Wilcoxon (MWW) test, Wilcoxon rank-sum test or Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test, inversion number test
The MANN-WHITNEY U-test was proposed in 1945 by Frank Wilcoxon. In 1947 it was substantially revised and expanded by H. B. Mann and D. R. Whitney.
To use the u criterion, each sample must have at least 3 values of the feature. It is permissible for one sample to have two values, but then the second sample must have at least five.
There must be no matching values in the data (all numbers are different) or there must be very few such matches.
