The Non-English Disinformation Crisis: From Outrage to Solutions
Disinformation on social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube and Twitter about elections, the pandemic, vaccines, climate change and other crucial issues is rampant and has critical implications for everything from public health to democratic institutions. And this problem is even more severe in non-English languages.
Senator Lujan, Free Press Action and others joined a roundtable policy discussion about solutions for the non-English language disinformation crisis. Solutions discussed included passing legislation and asking the Federal Trade Commission to open a privacy and civil rights rulemaking.
