Vijayawada Floods 2024 English Documentary By APSDMA
Owing to heavy rainfall in catchment area of Krishna River, a huge amount of flood water was received in Prakasam barrage. The highest inflow of 11.43 lakh cusecs was received in Prakasam barrage and this continued consistently for four (4) hours causing inundation of several areas downstream of Prakasam barrage including Vijayawada city. Due to heavy rains and run offs, the Budameru rivulet also bulged to a level of 35000 cusecs, nearly 5 times its carrying capacity of 7500 cusecs, leading to breaching of the banks of the rivulet at several places and thereby, causing huge water discharge into residential areas in the Vijayawada.
