The Makiwara in Japanese Archery or Kyudo
The straw makiwara target is an important tool to enable the archer to study their form. It also allows the archer to draw at full strength and unleash the power of the yumi or bow. One can see why the Japanese Samurai used the bow and arrow to such deadly effect in battles.
