In Tbilisi, a Lada sat on the balcony of a Khrushchev-era building for 27 years. In 1991, Tbilisi resident Rezo Enukidze purchased a VAZ-2106. On the very first night, the tires were removed. Rezo freaked out: he called a crane and lifted his Lada 2106 onto the fourth-floor balcony. "It'll sit there until better times," Enukidze told his shocked neighbors.
However, those "better times" never came: first the USSR collapsed, then Rezo lacked the money for new tires and another crane call. All this time, the owner maintained the car. He converted the balcony to store the Lada 2106, washed it regularly, but never drove it.
In 2016, Rezo Enukidze passed away, and a year and a half later, the famous Lada 2106, with almost no mileage, was finally brought back to earth. Rumor has it that Enukidze's relatives sold the car to a fan of classic VAZs for $10,000 – but the owner never enjoyed his long-awaited purchase.
