To facilitate using the slider on various tripods I installed three arca swiss type plates. One on either end and one in the middle. This provides for a secure mount to the tripods. In most cases I will use two tripods - one on either end. I did test using the slider on one of my heavy-duty tripods at the center mount and it will work with one of my lighter cameras in a pinch. I will also most often use a ball-head mount on the slider again with arca swiss.
