Alright, so the internet is kinda melting down over Open Gate right now — between the new Sony releases, the Venice 2 license situation, and some very spicy takes from Gerald Undone. So I figured… let’s talk about it.
Why is Open Gate suddenly the main character? Why does Sony want four grand for it? And why are cameras like the Lumix S1II and S1RII out here casually doing it straight out of the box for the price of a used lens?
In this video I break down the whole “Gate-Gate” situation, compare a few cameras that probably shouldn’t be compared, and just rant about why this feature is way more interesting than people give it credit for.
