This winter has brought us closer, while being apart...
Brought us the opportunity to explore more deeply by seeking out what is available in our own backyard and realizing that we truly have many unique ways to enjoy the winter months as we #exploreWeyburn

Here's a few of our top Winter "Wish List" Experiences we hope you have had the chance to enjoy (or plan to):

1. ❄️ 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙏𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙬𝙖 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙨 - with nearly 10km of trails systems throughout the city and beyond, you can explore and find some of the most picturesque beauty right here! The Signal Hill Nature Habitat and the Red Coat Nature Habitat, are completely protected from vehicle traffic with maintained trails even througout the winter months. With views of the Souris River and welcoming benches along the way, it's the perfect way to feel outside the city while staying right at home.

2. ❄️ Looking to dust off your 𝘾𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙨-𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙮 𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙚𝙨, or wanting to give it a try for the first time? Jubilee Park and River Park offer fantastic open areas for families to try these unique winter activities. Both snowshoes and cross-country skis can be rented from the City of Weyburn Leisure Centre. Be sure to contact them for availability and rental inquiries.
Junior thru Adult Snowshoes available
Junior/Youth Cross Country skis available only.

3. ❄️ Maybe you'd like to lace up your 𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙨𝙠𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 or try on a pair for the first time and head out to one of the community outdoor rinks in our area or experience skating on the frozen Souris River. There are lots to choose from including the River Park Campground outdoor rink and the North Weyburn outdoor rink. And if you are looking to head indoors for a skate, the Tom Zandee Sports Arena also offers public and free skating as well.

4. ❄️ Saskatchewan also has some of the most expansive 𝙨𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙢𝙤𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙨 in Canada and Weyburn has access to over 200 KM of trail! These trails connect Weyburn with towns of Griffin, Creelman, Corning and Stoughton, as well as the Moose Mountain Snowmobile Club trail system where you will have access to warm up shelters and unique prairie views. With ease of access to accomodations, services, and the trails... Weyburn is a fantastic place to park your vehicle and unload your sled for a truly wonderful snowmobile experience. Access to snowmobile maps and trails are available on our website.

5. ❄️ Not enough snow for the big toys? Take on the slopes and unleash your inner kid with some good ol’ fashioned 𝙩𝙤𝙗𝙤𝙜𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙪𝙣! One of our favourites is just off Confederation Drive near River Park!

6. ❄️ Looking to head outside the city? Look no further than Nickle Lake for some 𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙛𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙧 𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 on the “hidden oasis of the southeast” -- and it’s only 15 mins from Weyburn.

So this winter, embrace the cold and explore the only city in Saskatchewan that has been named one of the top places to live on the prairies by McLean’s Magazine for 3 years in a row.
