Ambani sponsored mass wedding for the poor
Asia's richest family, celebrating the upcoming wedding of their youngest son for a year and a half, has faced great misunderstanding from thousands of Indians.
People write in despair that they do not understand this family. What is the point of all this display of wealth, jewelry and expensive dresses when in their country people are starving, many have no roof over their heads and sleep on the street with their children. And instead of helping their own people, the Ambanis are paying Rihanna $6 million for three songs."
To calm the outrage, the Ambanis organized a mass wedding for 50 couples from disadvantaged families on July 3. As a gesture of goodwill and to ease the start of their life together, the billionaires presented gifts to each couple. The newlyweds received gold jewelry, household appliances, bedding, and essential food for a year. Each bride was also given a check for 100,000 rupees.
The Ambanis promised that from now on they will help the poor more often.
