This hike focuses on the ice chapel at the foot of the imposing Watzmann East Face. A permanent ice field, fed by avalanches and ice from the East Face in winter, it begins to melt in spring, but remains substantial enough that it never completely disintegrates. This creates an ice cave that constantly changes shape and therefore always remains unique.
We set out to marvel at this natural phenomenon and took a lot of fascinating photos along the way. But see for yourselves!
