ITEC's Mission Transportation
In the western world, it is easy to take transportation for granted. We have robust networks of roads, bridges, and waterways, and have close airport access in addition to multiple personal modes of transportation. It’s easy to forget that this isn’t true for many places around the world. For example: can you imagine a life where heavy rain can cut you off from the rest of the world?
In Southeast Asia When it rains, rugged mountains roads and trails become slick and treacherous: traveling 5 miles up and down the dangerous muddy hills can take several hours or more. And in Western Africa, people living outside of major cities during the rainy season can find themselves without access to medical care and services, because rural dirt roads turn in to mud pits, making them virtually impassable.
In Luke 12:48, Jesus shares challenging words at the end of His parable of the faithful servant, “Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand more.” These words have led us to ask: how can we use the knowledge and resources that we have been entrusted with to come alongside those facing challenging transportation issues across the globe? How can we provide solutions for Christ followers struggling to take the Gospel to the far-reaching, remote, and difficult to reach corners of the world?
At ITEC, the Mission Transportation team exists to support Indigenous Christ followers and mission workers on the ground in areas with transportation challenges. By patterning together, we hope to make the hard-to-reach accessible, so that they can receive desperately needed goods and services, as well as the Good News of Jesus.
