Discord.py is no longer being updated (as far as I know, there is not an alternative library for Discord in Python), but I think it's one of the easiest ways to start with making Discord bots. It is possible someone has/will fork Discord.py and create a version that may continue to be updated. More information below in the Future of Discord.py article written by the creator of Discord.py.
