Understanding Relay Cards - What They Are and How They Work | ‪@AllGyanElectrical‬

1. Introduction
Definition: A relay card is a printed circuit board (PCB) that houses multiple relays and associated components, designed to control high-power devices (like motors, lights, or industrial equipment) using low-power signals (such as from a microcontroller, computer, or automation system).
Purpose: These cards serve as an interface between the low-power control circuits and high-power loads. A microcontroller or a low-power circuit sends signals to the relay card, which in turn activates or deactivates the connected devices.

Types of Relays:
Electromechanical Relays (EMRs): These use mechanical components.
Solid-State Relays (SSRs): Use semiconductor components instead of mechanical ones.
Contacts: Relays have two main types of contacts:

Normally Open (NO): The circuit is open when the relay is not energized.
Normally Closed (NC): The circuit is closed when the relay is not energized.
