Lecture series on Civil Engineering - Indian Contract Act - its importance to Engineering Contracts
This is the second presentation in this series of lectures on Estimating and Costing of Civil Engineering Works. In this lecture, the Indian Contract Act will be explored. This act forms the basis for contracting in India.
The aspects of tenders and specifications is introduced in this lecture.
Every contract requires clear and detailed specifications and wordings of contract. When the wording of the contract are based on a poorly constructed tender document, the chance of the contract failing is large.
Managing and monitoring Engineering Contracts is an interesting challenge. The challenge is keeping all parties involved happy without affecting profitability. Knowing how to present a bid, maintain documents that uphold claims and effect a successful close out are the mark of a good project manager.
This lecture intends to demonstrate the same with practical examples to make the concepts come to life.
