Today's Livestream: Navigating Hamfests - Tips, Tricks, and Tales of Caution

Join us today as our topics hits on the world of Hamfests, a subject I've touched upon in previous discussions. We'll cover essential tips, tricks, and suggestions to help you steer clear of scams, all while diving into a live troubleshooting session of the USDX radio I impulsively acquired at the Jefferson Wisconsin Hamfest—ironically, neglecting my own advice.

A Buyer's Caveat

Remember, verifying the functionality of gear at the point of purchase is crucial; however, not all sellers play by the rules of honesty. Today, I'll share my personal anecdote of purchasing the USDX radio under the assumption it was a safe bet, much like embarking on a blind date based on the dubious assurance of a friend saying, "They have a great personality." Spoiler: The radio and I are currently in a complicated relationship, it seems.

Live Troubleshooting: The USDX Radio Drama

A recent lunchtime livestream unveiled some quirks with the USDX, notably its stubborn refusal to connect properly, testing with multiple antennas and coax cables, hinting at an elusive issue with its onboard BNC connection. While I'm far from an expert—my last stint at a Holiday Inn notwithstanding—we'll tackle this challenge together, learning as we go.
