Julian Assange's lawyer reacts at the conclusion of
🔴 “The US is trying to send [Julian Assange] into prison for 175 years for publishing this material [public interest publications], the same publications for which he has won journalism awards the world over.” Says Jennifer Robinson, Assange’s lawyer.
At the conclusion of the two-day #DayX hearing, the judges didn’t make a decision yet. The decision will probably be delivered in a few weeks. If the court accepts some or all of Assange’s grounds for appeal, a further hearing could take place. If all grounds are rejected, Assange’s extradition could be imminent. His only remaining legal recourse would be at the European Court of Human Rights.
As we are concerned about his physical and mental health, we reiterate that no one should face such treatment for publishing information in the public interest. It’s time to protect journalism, press freedom, and all of our right to know. It’s time to free Assange now!
