What does the Bible really teach about Satan’s limits—and his influence in the world?
In this eye-opening teaching, Sam Shamoun walks through Scripture to correct two common extremes: overestimating Satan (as if he were “almighty”), or underestimating him (as if he were harmless). Sam explains that Satan is a finite spirit creature: not omnipresent, not omniscient, and not omnipotent—yet still dangerously active, prowling for victims to devour (1 Peter 5:8–9).
Using key passages like Luke 22:31–32, Sam shows that Satan operates under God’s permission—“on a leash”—and cannot afflict believers unless God allows it. This leads into a powerful discussion on why unconfessed, unrepentant sin gives demons “legal ground” to oppress and attack, with examples from 1 Corinthians 5 and 1 Timothy 1.
Sam then takes us through the book of Job to expose Satan’s tactics: manipulating human agents (raiders and enemies), influencing natural elements (fire, wind, disasters), and even striking with disease—while Scripture still affirms God’s ultimate sovereignty. He also explains how biblical language sometimes attributes events to God’s “hand” to emphasize sovereignty, even when God is not the direct cause.
Finally, Sam connects Satan’s influence to the broader spiritual warfare described in the New Testament: Satan as the “ruler of this world,” the “power of the air,” and the evil one under whose influence the world lies (John 12–16, Ephesians 2, 1 John 5:19). The takeaway is clear: don’t panic, don’t play games—stand firm in faith, repent, and cling to Christ, whose authority is absolute.
