Cultural Welfare, Art & Public Space
Join us Friday, December 3rd, 2021 (1:00-3:00 pm EST, 19:00-21:00 CET), for a special event of the Italian Association of Canadian Studies annual conference (Bologna, December 2-3-4, 2021), live from Toronto and Bologna, with the support of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Toronto, the School of Cities at the University of Toronto, under the patronage of the Canadian Embassy in Italy.
While this year’s AISC annual theme "Traditions and Social Innovation" aims at offering scholars working in a wide range of disciplines a fruitful occasion for investigating recent changes and adaptations in the Canadian context, this special event on Cultural Welfare: Art and Public Space, aims at exploring cultural welfare as a "new integrated model for promoting the well-being and health of individuals and communities, through practices based on the visual and performing arts and on cultural heritage” (European Agenda for Culture, 2018).
This special event will take place live from Toronto and Bologna and will be broadcast on YouTube and Facebook, with special guests President Emerita of OCAD University Sara Diamond; distinguished University of Toronto scholar and urban cultural policy expert Daniel Silver; director of the Master in “Digital Marketing and Communication” University of Bologna Business School, Roberto Grandi; art critic, curator, and expert in public art Fabiola Naldi.

This event is presented by the Italian Association of Canadian Studies, with the support of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Toronto and under the patronage of the Canadian Embassy in Italy, and is hosted by the University of Bologna, in collaboration with the School of Cities at the University of Toronto, the Conservatory of Music Bologna and other cultural and academic institutions.
