Taekwondo Training 540 & 720 kick
To continue honing your skills in taekwondo, it is crucial to familiarize yourself with the 540 and 720 kicks. These advanced techniques require practice, precision, and proper form. Here's a breakdown of each kick:
1. 540 Kick: The 540 kick is characterized by a 540-degree spin in the air before executing the kick. To perform this kick:
Start by standing with your dominant leg at the back.
Begin rotating your body counter-clockwise by hopping off your front leg.
During the spin, tuck your dominant knee towards your chest and bring your non-dominant leg up to initiate the kick.
Extend your non-dominant leg outwards while simultaneously rotating your body to face the target.
Aim to make contact with the target using the ball of your foot.
To complete the kick, land on your non-dominant leg while absorbing the impact with a slight bend in your knees.
2. 720 Kick: The 720 kick involves executing two full spins in the air before the kick. To perform this kick:
Begin in a similar starting position as the 540 kick.
Jump off your front leg and initiate the first spin in the air. Bring your non-dominant leg up as you rotate.
After completing the first spin, use the momentum to begin the second spin.
During the second spin, bring your dominant leg up and extend it towards the target to execute the kick.
Aim to make contact with the target using the ball of your foot.
Land on your non-dominant leg while keeping your knees slightly bent to absorb the impact.
Remember, both of these kicks require consistent practice to master. Pay attention to your technique, maintain balance and control, and gradually increase your speed and power as you become more proficient. Always ensure proper warm-up and stretching before attempting these advanced kicks.
