The Great Floods:
As you look at Lake Sheloole, just imagine raging waters coming through these coulees flooding the north side of Shelby. Happen it did in 1964 and again in 1965! Drenching rains for several days burst the Sullivan Dam sending rivers of water into the north side of town. Shortly after, the Shelby Watershed Project was initiated with completion of Lake Sheloole in 1969.
