The day has come & it's time to butcher & process our meat chickens. Its been just 8 weeks since they arrived from the hatchery & it's flown by! We're down to just 3 chickens left in the freezer from last year's meat birds...so it'll be nice to stock the freezer again!
I'm so excited because we got a NEW feather plucker! It's like the Cadillac of pluckers and I can't wait to break it in!

You guys, these are birds raised right! They have adequate shelter, fresh water, all the bugs, grass & flowers they could eat! They're raised with TLC, they're butchered & processed with TLC. This is why we do what we do. I can ensure the food I'm preparing for my family's table is not only raised properly, but processed humanely when that time comes.
We eat what our food eats! Let that sink in for a minute...I like being able to control that environment from start to finish. This is our 4th year raising meat birds on the homestead and I don't think I could ever go back to grocery store meat.
