Today was the last day of my week off due to feeling a bit burnt out. Turns out most of that was caused by bloody tree pollen. I get allergies at the start of the year but this year it seems to have kicked in particularly early. Popping an allergy pill made it go away within hours, wish i'd realised a bit sooner!
Anyway one of the things I got round to doing in the studio was building some raised sections on one side of the studio to create a two tier area so gear in front has somewhere for it's rear cables to go and also allows all the plugs and power supplies to be hidden. This area now has everything in it that has some sort of semi modular/CV+Gate capability. A modular rack would fit nicely here too.....
This jam was just an excuse to test drive the new setup as I don't normally plug gear in and not put it away afterwards. IDFK what genre this even is, or if I even like it. Hence the title 😄
In this jam the Korg SQ1 is driving the Behringer Neutron. I discovered a little trick today on the SQ1, steps can be triggered in step jump mode that are not on in the active step mode. So you can have a short sequence like this and spice it up with manually triggered notes. Great fun
The Neutron noise out is going into the Volca Modular and being gated to make Hi-Hats, then the /4 output from the Volca Modualr is triggering kicks on the Baslt Kaslte which is also layered with a direct click output of the /4 output (kick is still lost on mobile devices though. My bad). A synth string part is played from the Sonicware SmplTrek which is also clocking everything. The kick and hi-hats are being process through a pair of DIY optical compressors.
It's mixed on a Behringer xenyx mixer and reverb is added using the send to and from my trust Zoom 1201 set to Hall 6. That's about it
