Calculated Columns in AdapTable Pivot Layouts (Part 2)
This is a follow up to • Pivoting with Calculated Columns in AdapTable where we showed how Calculated Columns in AdapTable - our AG Grid extension - are treated as normal columns once created and can be used anywhere in AdapTable, including as Aggregation columns when creating a Pivot Layout.
Viewers raised 2 questions which we answer in this video:
1. Can you use Calculated Columns as Row Grouped Columns or Pivoted Columns in Pivot Layouts - the latter is where AG Grid creates a bespoke column for each distinct value in the Pivot Column? The answer is "yes" as we demonstrate.
2. Can Calculated Columns work when using the Server Side Row Model (AG Grid's mode where you get data "on the fly" from the server)? Again the answer is yes but only where the Calculated Column uses a Scalar Aggregation (ie evaluates based on that single row); Aggregated Expressions which evaluate against multiple rows are not available when using the SSRM.
