Visualization of Opposing Mixed Convection from a Vertical Plate
Temperature field visualization of opposing mixed convection from a vertical isothermal heated plate (35 C above ambient temperature) with a Mach-Zehnder interferometer. The downward forced flow opposes the upward free convection. Air flow velocities range from free convection (U=0 m/s) to forced convection (U=1.5 m/s). The interferometer in the infinite fringe mode, such that the interference fringes are isotherms.
