I made two big changes to my gyroscope bike: I geared the gyros together, so their reaction torques stay aligned, and added an inverted pendulum to mechanically drive their precession when the bike starts to lean. The idea of using an inverted pendulum to control gyroscopes goes back over 100 years to Luis Brennan. I’m trying to see how far I can take a much simpler, completely mechanical version. Now for the real test: can it make it across the room on a string? Follow to see what happens.
