Today's video is super special because together with a guitarist who brings Italian metal to stages around the world we see 8 tricks and tips for playing metal, from guitars to sounds through accessories and ways of playing, and of course we will let you hear everything!

Specifically, Diego and I will talk about the Downpicking technique, one of the most widespread in the world of metal electric guitar. 🤘🏻
Then we will talk about the Fretwrap, an essential accessory when the distortion rises, both for studio recordings and for live concerts. Basically it serves to block some unwanted vibrations and sounds of the strings beyond the nut. Obviously there are also punk solutions for this. 👀
Another interesting topic is the different approach that you have in the studio and live, with different equipment and different sounds.
Diego will explain what he's been using in the studio lately, how he gets his sound and what he brings to the stage, all with my help that took him from an old Blackstar head to the brand new Amped 😍
Consequently we also talked about the sound in the mix of a song, both live and in the studio, so how the sound must respect certain characteristics but having to make some compromises, you can't always have the sound you want, most of the time you just need to have the sound optimized for what you need, as in his case. A journey that lasted years that led him to have a huge sound that goes well with that of Maki's bass from Lacuna Coil. 🎸
So I took the opportunity to talk about the single distortion of the amplifier compared to an amp with an overdrive boost. The difference is huge with certain amplifiers so I hope it will be useful to you to get those super sharp, dry and powerful sounds typical of metal! ⚡️
