Beware the Batman had a reputation for digging deep into the forgotten corners of Gotham’s underworld, and few characters represent that better than Silver Monkey.
Primarily a rival to Green Arrow’s successor, Connor Hawke, Silver Monkey began life as a deadly assassin from the Monkey Fist Cult. He was a warrior whose pride and skill made him one of the world’s most dangerous martial artists. But Beware the Batman reinvented him as a member of Ra’s al Ghul’s League of Assassins, a man driven not by loyalty, but by hunger for power.
In this video, I explore how Silver Monkey’s ambition set him on a collision course with Lady Shiva, Katana, and even Batman himself. From his comic book origins to his reinvention in Beware The Batman, we’ll look at how one fighter’s thirst for power became the very thing that destroyed him.
