Na het avontuur in The Masked Singer bracht Anouk Matton in maart haar eerste single in het Nederlands uit. Dat er een opvolger zou komen voor ‘Neem Ik Je Mee’ stond in de sterren geschreven want het was snel duidelijk dat dit naar meer smaakte.
‘Vergeet Mij Niet’ gaat over de pijn die een verloren liefde kan veroorzaken. De tekst is dan wel heel universeel, voor Anouk zelf heeft die een persoonlijke betekenis. Ze zegt daarover: “De meeste mensen zullen in het liedje het gevoel herkennen van iemand te missen na een stukgelopen relatie. Mij persoonlijk herinnert het aan een hechte intense vriendschap die jammer genoeg is uitgedoofd. Het is een tekst waar ik in die periode veel houvast en troost in zou hebben gevonden.”
