How to Make Pop Tab Chainmail
In this video, I am going to teach how to make medieval armor out of the tabs that come off of soda cans. This is a great way to make impressive period garb and reusing tabs that could have gone to the landfill, and making something great out of them. Chainmail was probably made first before the 5th century by the ancient Celts, and until the 14th, century, it was the primary armor for a soldier, and mail was used sporadically in military warfare until the 17th century in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Chainmail is still used today by marine biologists dealing with sharks, and performances with electricity, to protect the wearer.
The word "mail" comes from the French word "maille", which is extracted from the Latin "macula", meaning "mesh of a net".
Different articles of clothing can be made with chainmail, including the hauberk, shirt, skirt, aventail, coif, breeches, chausses, sabatons, and more.
