This course provides an introduction to Microsoft Excel – a computer based spreadsheet. You will learn to use worksheets and workbooks – the basic components of the spreadsheet and to enter different types of data into a worksheet. You will also look at Data entry aids such as AutoCorrect, AutoComplete, Pick From List and Navigation. You will learn to use and customize the Toolbars in Excel and also how to customize the Excel components that are displayed on your screen. You will learn how to format the data on your worksheet and how formulas can be used to allow easy calculations to be made on the data contained within the spreadsheet. You will also learn to use the chart wizard to transform your data into charts that enable you to present your data in a graphical form. You will learn to print your worksheets from within Excel and also learn how to specify various print options. You will also learn to manage worksheets and perform such tasks as inserting, deleting and renaming worksheets, grouping and ungrouping worksheets. You will also learn to use Functions, which are special commands that extend the powers of Excel by simplifying complex operations and about the database support available in Excel. You will see how to use the various data commands that are available and see how to filter data to selectively display and print part of the database. You will also learn about the Excel built in Data Form feature and see how this feature allows you to add, find, edit and delete records quickly and easily. You will also see some of the advanced features related to Charts, and learn to incorporate Drawings and Pictures into your Excel worksheets. This course also discusses the Conversion feature available in Excel, using which you can open worksheets created by other programs and convert them to Excel worksheets. Finally you will also learn to use the Clipboard and learn about the OLE support available in Excel. You will learn to create and use Templates and Styles that will help you to use a consistent design or layout across all your workbooks. You will also learn to import data from text files or documents using the text wizard. You will also learn about Microsoft Query, an excellent tool for querying external databases. You will also look at some excellent tools that Excel provides to help you find the answers to “What If?” type questions, such as Goal Seek, Scenario Manager and Solver. You will also learn to write and use Macros that can be an amazing time saver when performing repetitive actions. You will also look at the various customization options that are available in Excel. You will also learn to use the Spelling Checker to proof your worksheet data. You will also study the security issues in Excel and learn to share your workbook over the network, so that multiple users can access it at the same time. You will also study a number of advanced features supported by Excel, such as Data Validation, which can ensure the correctness of the type of data that is input and the Audit feature, which allows you to detect problems that may occur in worksheet formulas. You will also learn about the advanced security features that can be used to protect your workbook. You will also learn to add comments to document your worksheets and to use Data Maps. Finally you will learn to use Consolidation – a feature that allows you to select blocks of data from different worksheets and combine their values into a single, summary range in a workbook.
