In this video, I’ll show you exactly how to add Schema in Yoast SEO to improve your WordPress website’s visibility in search engines. Schema markup, also known as structured data, helps Google and other search engines understand your content better, making it possible to display rich results like star ratings, FAQs, product details, and more. If you’re looking to improve click-through rates and stand out in search results, adding schema with Yoast SEO is one of the best ways.
First, make sure you have the Yoast SEO plugin installed and activated. Yoast SEO comes with built-in structured data capabilities, so you don’t need extra plugins. To begin, log in to your WordPress dashboard and go to the SEO settings. Under the “Search Appearance” section, you’ll find the Schema tab. Here, you can define how your content is represented to search engines.
Yoast allows you to set default schema types for your entire site. For example, you can choose whether your website represents an Organization or a Person. If you select Organization, you can add details like the company name and logo, which helps with brand visibility in search results.
Next, you can configure schema for different content types such as Posts, Pages, Products, and Custom Post Types. For instance, if you’re running a blog, you can set your default post type to Article schema, which tells Google that your posts are informative content. If you’re running a store with WooCommerce, your products can automatically use Product schema, helping them appear with pricing and availability in search results.
You can also control schema on a per-page or per-post basis. When editing a post, scroll down to the Yoast SEO meta box, click on the Schema tab, and select the specific schema type you want to assign. Options include Article, Product, FAQ, How-To, Web Page, and more. This level of customization ensures that each piece of content is accurately described to search engines.
The advantage of using Yoast SEO for schema is that it automatically generates clean JSON-LD structured data without requiring you to write any code. This ensures your schema complies with Google’s best practices.
By the end of this tutorial, you’ll know exactly how to add and manage schema in Yoast SEO to boost your search presence, improve rankings, and drive more organic traffic.
