Semantic Relations
Toddlers produce a variety of two-word phrases before they produce whole sentences. The early pioneers in the exploration of language development categorized these sentence fragments in "Semantic Relations": entity + attribute, entity + location, action + object and agent + action. These semantic relations form the building blocks of later development in more complex predication and sentence structure. Explore why this phase of language development is such an important step towards the developmental goal of speaking in sentences.
