We live in a very loud world. People no longer have time to think and
process what they feel; when they get bored, they pull out their phone and scroll Tiktok or Instagram. Earlier in my life, I did the same and found my relationship with God suffering as a result. Silence is essential in this world in order to anchor yourself to God and to sort through your thoughts and feelings and many important historical figures came to this same conclusion in their life. Even in the busyness of running a country, Abraham Lincoln found time to ride away to a solitary cabin and Einstein walked 3 miles a day. Being a runner, I can personally vouch for the value of walks or runs for silence. For me, running became a place to simply be, to just exist with an empty mind, but also a place to process through everything from that day or week. This was also incoincidentally where I heard God the most; without the noise of society, I could finally hear God’s voice. Join me as I discuss how growth is an intentional act, and how solitude brings us closer to who God has called us to be.
