Video describes taking an old Stereo master track and pulling stems out of it using RipX DeepAudio AI to be used in the DAW. By inverting the phase of the stem you can carve a sonic hole into the main Stereo track being upmixed to all speakers in order that the non-inverted stem can be processed independently with plugins and panned in 3D space. The approach offers some additional control that is traditionally not possible by upmixing using tools like Halo or Penteo. It has its limitations, but by knowing when to use it and when not, you can get some nice results, especially on poorer quality masters typical of the 80's and 90s low-budget home studio vinyl releases.
