I’m delighted to introduce you to our state-of-the-art pollution-reducing and solar reflective photocatalytic pavement solutions, which can be implemented to “retrofit” existing transportation infrastructure to meaningfully capture and reduce vehicular and aircraft emissions and mitigate the effects of Urban Heat Islands (UHI). In this animated video we focus on our “NOx Capture” technology which uses known pollution neutralizing photocatalytic materials that impregnate roads, runways and parking areas etc. to leverage existing transportation infrastructure.

Photocatalysis with TiO2 has been widely studied in recent years for its photo-reactive effectiveness in degrading greenhouse gases, principally oxides of nitrogen (NOx), which are the major contributor to tropospheric ozone (O3) or “photochemical smog”. Climate scientists and healthcare experts have concluded that photochemical smog in concentrated urban environments has developed into a human health crisis. Commercial application of TiO2-based photo catalysis is a promising applied technology for economically and biologically scalable ground-level pollution remediation.

A TiO2-bearing pavement, when light energy activated, creates a chemo-electric energy field atop a roadway that has been shown to materially capture and convert harmful gases emitted through vehicle exhaust into harmless compounds easily absorbed (sequestered) by surrounding foliage. Mobile source emissions contribute 80% of photochemical smog, mostly NOx. In fact, NOx is 300x more toxic than CO2, according to the EPA.
