Install Linux with VMware + Vagrant (Mac & Windows) – Fedora 39 Walkthrough
In this video, I walk through how to set up a local Linux development and training environment using VMware and HashiCorp Vagrant, instead of relying solely on Oracle VirtualBox.
You’ll learn how to:
Install VMware Fusion (macOS) or VMware Workstation Pro (Windows)
Download and install Vagrant
Add the VMware Vagrant provider plugin
Initialize a Fedora 39 virtual machine using a Vagrantfile
Start and stop your Linux VM with simple Vagrant commands
This setup works great for:
Linux training and labs
Software development
Testing environments
Classroom and instructional use
Most of the steps are identical for macOS and Windows users, so follow along regardless of your platform.
