Unity provides a first-class 3D experience, but user controls lack a native look and feel. SwiftUI is the latest goodness for Apple user interfaces. Putting the two together can give the best of both worlds, but there are several technical challenges. We will walk through the issues and explore how to make it all work.
After 14 years building computing systems for spacecraft, I formed EPage in 1994 to create services for the Web. In the mid-2000’s we migrated to mobile development, and I have been focused on building iOS apps since 2008. We have built hundreds of apps on both iOS and Android for clients ranging from startups and individuals to Fortune-100 companies. I’m an avid runner, and love to do hackathons.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if REST would be coupled with some type annotation, fancy tooling and powerful code generation? If so, you might have stumbled over GraphQL at one point - a supercharged REST alternative that helps you to save time and energy and avoid having to manually implement loosely defined endpoints and rather tell the endpoint what you expect from it to return.
We’ll first explore what the GraphQL specification is, how it’s defined and what some of the most essential features are before we’ll look over on the client side how we can leverage the specification when implementing an API service. You’ll leave with an understanding of why GraphQL gets hyped and why others trash it.
