In the past, software applications were islands of functionality, backed by whatever data persistence mechanism their designers decided to use, and to the consumers of those applications, it really didn’t matter where the data was stored, so long as the application fulfilled its purpose. Thankfully, those days have gone. Software applications are no longer solitary islands, but are expected and required to openly expose their data and be able to interact with data exposed by other applications. During this presentation, Steve Ives discusses the many ways that applications are able to interact and strategies that architects of Synergy applications can adopt to facilitate such interaction.
