How to Make YouTube Channel Art / YouTube Banner

Hi this is Rudy. In this tutorial I will guide you step-by-step on how to make YouTube channel art including suggestions for image software and links to some channel art templates.
Have you ever visited someone’s YouTube channel and thought wow, their channel art looks really cool. I wonder how they did that? Some of you might not even realize that you can personalize your YouTube channel with your own banner. To avoid any confusion YouTube channel art and YouTube banner are referring to the same thing, so I will use both of them throughout this tutorial.
When someone visits your channel page your banner is the FIRST thing they see. At that moment you are not only promoting yourself or your brand, you in essence are telling the visitor exactly what you or your business is about. Finally, a nice eye-catching banner makes your page look interesting and can encourage people to browse through your videos and stay on longer which is really the ultimate goal.
Now here are the steps to make YouTube channel art:
1. You will need either image software such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator or you can use some free online alternatives such as Gimp.
2. Go to the YouTube Help center and access the channel art information page which shows you the YouTube banner size you need to use.
3. The recommended YouTube banner size is 2560 x 1440
4. You can also download a YouTube banner template by fireworks or photoshop that you can use to make your channel art.
5. Now open your image software. I will use Adobe Photoshop CS6.
6. Create a new file and make the dimensions 2560 x 1440
7. Use a resolution of at least 72 pixels per inch
8. Design your banner with text, logos, and backgrounds. Express yourself!
9. (A little hint about youtube banner dimensions: Keep your most important information within what is called the safe area which is 1546 x 432 pix. This way regardless of what monitor size or mobile device is viewing your YouTube page, they will see it.
10. Once you have created your masterpiece save it as a jpeg or png file and make sure it is 2mb or less in size
11. Login to your YouTube account and click My Channel on the left side of the screen
12. Hover your cursor over the banner to your right and it will reveal a pencil in the top right corner of the banner space
13. Click the pencil
14. Select Edit channel art
15. Open your banner that is saved on your computer
16. Wait for it to upload and then click Select
17. You are done
