In this series of SOLIDWORKS At Home, Sean designs a sheath for his fancy new chef knife to print on his 3D printer.

For part 1, Sean covers the use of the Sketch Picture tool to design around a photo of the knife and the use of the Style Spline (Bezier and B-spline) to capture its natural curves.

Keep an eye out for part 2 that will cover splitting the body in two to aid in 3D printing, using multi-body part design to create a swivel lock to keep the blade in the sheath, and setting up the sweep feature.
