Of Lamas and Khans
It was a cold windy day in Xilinhot, capital city of the Xilingol League of Inner Mongolia, China. I wander the ᠪᠡᠶᠢᠰᠡ ᠶ᠋ᠢᠨ ᠰᠦᠮᠡ Beisiin süme (貝子廟 bèizǐ miào), or Beis Temple... and as I do, I reflect upon the deep relationship formed between Tibet and greater Mongolia. This intertwined saga involves religion, statecraft, scholarship, and war. I relate to you all the story of Lamas and Khans.
