HONEST REVIEW
PROS / Good Points:
Man, for a Php 1.3K (USD 24) Preamp pedal, the M-Vave Mini-Amp is a bang for the buck deal! Change my mind. Haha! So it offers 9 Preamp types from Fender Pristine Clean, Marshall Crunch and soaring high gain Soldano SLO-100!! Considering the price point, this pedal actually sounds great for me. What do you think? Since this is a Preamp pedal, its ideal to run this to the Amp's Return or Power Amp In, or if you want a direct setup, you need an IR Cab Sim pedal (like Cuvave Cube Baby, NUX Mini-Impulse pedal and TC Electronic Impulse).
CONS / Things for improvement:
One thing I noticed with the unit I received is the Preamp Selector Knob, it's a bit loose and movable. The knob doesn't grip carefully to the slot where it is positioned. That's why in the video, I'm struggling to know what Preamp Number am I at. HAHA! Also, I'm really careful not to skip a Preamp Type. It will be a drag. But I think, this is just the unit that I received, I also have the M-Vave Mini-Universe and it's reverb selector knob grips well on the slot it is positioned. So I think, the movable selector knob depends on the unit itself and not all units have loose knob.
Second, this pedal uses a hard-clicking footswitch. So the pedal has a popping sound when engaged. I advice everyone to use an isolated PSU and a decent patch/instrument cable to minimize the popping. Also, the popping sound is tolerable and neglible because this is a Preamp Pedal, so this is meant to be an "Always ON" pedal and the popping sound doesn't matter at all.
So these are the things you need to know before buying this pedal. GAS UP!!
