ISO 10848 - 2 Sound Insulation Measurements - Flanking Transmission
Second part of ISO 10848 specifies the measurement methods in a laboratory in order to characterize the flanking transmission of one or several building components which is related to the combined performance of the elements and junctions. Being one of the very few laboratories in this field, FTI ISO 10848 laboratory is mainly designed to allow tests for façade systems. The facility consists of four structurally isolated, adjacent reverberant rooms which allow measurement of horizontal, vertical and diagonal flanking sound transmission. Besides this, there is a test opening in two lower reverberant rooms in order to measure high sound insulation glazing and windows according to ISO 140 Part 3. All measurements are performed according to ISO 10848 Part 2 are given in the extended frequency range of 50-5000Hz in third octave bands. The frequency-dependent values of flanking sound insulation performance data is converted into a single number characterising the overall acoustical performance according to the method given in ISO 717 Part 1.
