IHP (Implicit Heightfield Projection) is a real-time heightmap projection and displacement-style material plugin for Unreal Engine that gives flat and low-poly surfaces convincing depth without high-poly geometry, Nanite, or tessellation. This 15-minute introduction and Material Editor tutorial demonstrates IHP’s cell-aware alternative to fixed-step Parallax Occlusion Mapping (POM), including corrected UVs, reconstructed tangent-space normals, optional self-shadowing, silhouette masking, derivative-aware filtering, and scalable quality controls. IHP supports Texture2D heightmaps, Runtime Virtual Texture (RVT) displacement, and decals for landscapes, terrain, rocks, walls, roads, tiles, game environments, and architectural visualization. IHP creates visual material depth, not physical geometry or collision.
